This 9mm prong snap die set fits a hand press and sets open ring prong snaps, the no-sew snaps whose 5 prongs grip the fabric. Use it for baby bodysuits, T-shirts and pajamas.
It has 2 steel pieces: a bottom die with a center pin that holds the prong ring and a cushioned top die that holds the socket or the stud. The same pair sets both halves of the snap, and you don't cut a hole.
Best Uses
- Baby bodysuits and rompers: 9mm snaps close a crotch or shoulder opening in rib knit without a buttonhole.
- T-shirts and henley plackets: the prongs push between the knit loops, so no cut hole weakens the jersey.
- Pajamas and kids' clothes: once the die is in the press, each snap takes 2 presses, one per half.
- Light shirts and blouses in cotton or rayon: a 9mm ring looks small and neat on a placket.
Not For
Leather, 12 oz canvas or thick denim seams, where the prongs can't reach through all layers: use our 12.5mm metal snap die set there. Capped (pearl) prong snaps also need a different bottom die, one without the pin.

Sewing Tips
- Test on a scrap of the same fabric first: one firm press should fold all 5 prongs evenly over the socket or stud.
- On thin jersey, fuse a small square of interfacing to the wrong side so the snap can't pull out.

Questions About This Product
Does it fit my hand press?
It fits presses where the top die screws into the press head and the bottom die sits in a hole in the base, like our cast iron and aluminium presses.
Do I need to punch a hole?
No. The prongs go through the fabric. Four-part metal snaps need a small hole, and plastic snaps an awl hole in dense fabric.
Can I set capped (pearl) prong snaps with it?
No. The bottom die has a pin for open ring snaps. Capped snaps need a cup-shaped bottom die.
