Rayon and Viscose Lining Fabrics

Rayon and Viscose Lining Fabrics - Kahanne Fabrics

Rayon and viscose lining fabrics offer a beautiful combination of softness, fluid drape and breathability that synthetic linings simply can't match. Both fibers are derived from natural cellulose, giving them a lightweight, skin-friendly feel that makes them a favorite choice for garments worn close to the body.

Rayon and viscose linings are especially well suited for dresses, skirts, blouses, lightweight jackets and tailored trousers. Their natural drape follows the body's movement without clinging or stiffening, resulting in a clean, polished finish that elevates any handmade or tailored piece.

Why choose rayon or viscose lining? Rayon and viscose are closely related fibers — viscose is the most common form of rayon — so they share many of the same qualities. Compared to polyester linings, they are more breathable, more comfortable against the skin and have a softer, more natural hand feel. They are also more sustainable than petroleum-based synthetics, making them a popular choice for eco-conscious makers.

How to sew with rayon and viscose lining: These fabrics are lightweight and can be slippery to cut, so we recommend using sharp scissors or a rotary cutter, pinning generously and cutting on a non-slip mat. Use a fine needle (size 70/10 or 75/11) and a shorter stitch length for clean, secure seams.

All rayon and viscose lining fabrics at KAHANNE are sold by the yard. Multiple yards are shipped as one continuous length, so there are no unwanted joins in your project.
