Serrated or smooth tracing wheel – which do I need?
A serrated wheel is the most versatile choice. It marks most fabrics and perforates paper, which makes it ideal for copying patterns. A smooth wheel is gentler on very delicate fabrics like silk.
Do I need carbon paper?
For paper, no – the wheel perforates a dotted line on its own. For visible lines on fabric, place dressmaker's carbon paper between the pattern and the fabric.
Will it damage my fabric?
Not on most fabrics. Use light pressure and test on a scrap first, especially on fine or delicate fabrics.
